Below is the first installment of our bi-monthly newsletter! If you would like to receive these newsletters in your email, just let us know (if you’re on the list, this email should be waiting in your inbox).

What a month it’s been. Indeed, what a season! For the past five months, our pace of life has seemed almost overwhelming. Now, however, the goal is within sight. As I write this letter, we are exactly two weeks from departing for a month of pre-field training in Elgin, IL, and about two months from boarding an airplane headed towards Athens, Greece!

This last month has been particularly dizzying. Brett graduated from seminary last Saturday, and was ordained by the elders of Chatham Christian Church on the following day. Kristin has been chugging alone with her kindergarten class. In fact, today her class will celebrate the marriage of Mr. Q and Ms. U – a tradition of Emden Elementary School in lieu of kindergarten graduation. In addition to this, we have been completing a number of training assignments for International Teams: reading books, writing papers, etc. It’s been a challenging last few months, but very rewarding.

To top it all off, we’ve been raising support since January. Believe it or not, this has been one of the most fulfilling activities for us both. There has been nothing greater than sitting across the table from someone and watching as they begin to really understand what the ministry is all about (an “aha!” moment). It is such an encouragement to see others get passionate about the ministry for which God has given us a passion. Indeed, God has been faithful!

By my count, our support stands at precisely 86.7%. It’s breath-taking to see how far God has brought us. Thank you for being a part of His provision! We cannot purchase our plane tickets until 100% of our budget has been pledged, so our departure date is still somewhat fluid. Our hope is to have 100% of our support accounted for by June, so that we can purchase tickets by July 1st. In other words, if you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to begin your support, this is it (see below)!

There is surely more news to tell, but for now we simply wanted to send out our first official update, informing you of our progress and plans. Please keep all of the above in your prayers, as well as our attempts to procure a visa from the Greek government! We will continue to update our blog ( throughout training, and will send another update before our final departure! Thanks again for your prayers and your partnership in God’s global kingdom!
