“Therefore, let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken…”
The Kingdom of God cannot be shaken by any human power. For refugees – many of whom have experienced the fragility of earthly kingdoms – this promise is unfathomable. And yet, this is the very hope of the gospel – that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Mat. 6:10); that one day every knee will bow in recognition of it’s true Lord (Phil. 2:9-11).
Sharing the hope of God’s unshakable Kingdom with refugees is both an exhilarating and frightening task. It is frightening as I don’t have the least ability to understand the pain and hardship many of the refugees have experienced at the hands of human kingdoms. I don’t want to belittle their difficulty.
At the same time, to share the hope and peace that is offered to us in God’s kingdom is indescribably exciting. The Gospel is only medicine for the sin-sick soul. To water down this truth is inexcusable. We must, then, share the Good News of God’s Kingdom with the utmost humility, and yet with confidence in God’s power to transform lives.
Please pray for us as we hold out the Gospel to those in desperate need of its hope and transforming power:
*For a weekly Arabic Bible study that I am leading.
*For the ministry of the Persian Christian fellowship, where I am working to develop young leaders and occasionally preaching.
*For the evangelism efforts of the Tea House – that we will have the right balance of boldness and gentleness.
*For those who hear the Gospel will respond in faith.
By God’s Grace – Brett, Kristin, and Sofia Sanner
