Ever wonder what it’s like to be a refugee? This game won’t help, but it can still teach us something of the experience. The United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) is behind the development of this first-person simulation of the refugee experience. While it’s far from experiencing the life of a refugee, it does communicate something of the fear, confusion, and prejudice that refugees face on a daily basis. If you’re into gaming at all, give it a try – or work through it with your kids. There are 12 unique tasks to complete: from fleeing your home country and finding shelter to learning the language and shopping in a new country.
