Hey everyone! As always, we are so thankful for your support, prayers, and encouragement. It has already been an eventful summer here in Athens, and the remaining months are full of promise. Here are some praises and prayer requests for August.

– More baptisms! Last week, five new believers (2 from Afghanistan, 1 from Iran, and 2 Kurds from Iraq) were baptized into Christ. It was probably the single most encouraging moment from our first year here. These young men were literally shaking with excitement. Four of these new believers stay at the Nest (the shelter and discipleship house that I oversee). Please keep these five men in your prayers (their growth and maturity, their safety, their future ministries).

– Please pray for the ongoing evangelistic outreaches, bible studies, discipleship classes, and leadership development classes at the refugee center. Obviously, there is a lot of teaching that goes on here – from one-to-one evangelism to training future leaders in Arabic- and Farsi-speaking churches. Please pray that Christ would be proclaimed clearly and boldly. Pray that God would soften hearts and minds. Pray for boldness and courage on behalf of spiritual seekers.

– Pray for the ministry that goes on here at our home. This primarily takes three forms: hosting refugee friends, hosting fellow teammates, and raising Sofia. Pray that we might use our apartment as a means to glorify God, whether by evangelism, discipleship, encouragement, or simply showing hospitality to someone in need of love and a warm meal.

– Finally, please pray for our family as we continue to make new adjustments to life and ministry in Greece. Sofia will be seven months later this week! Pray for Kristin as God uses her in a special way here at home with Sofia. As we look towards the fall, we ask for prayers as our ministry schedule begins to pick up, Greek classes begin again in September, and other special events make new demands of our time.

Thank you so much for your prayers. Your prayers are a huge encouragement to us here. Please know that through your prayers you play a direct role in our ministry here! Thank you, and praise God for His work among the nations here in Athens!

By God’s Grace –
Brett, Kristin, & Sofia
