We celebrated three baptisms on Saturday. For me, there’s nothing sweeter.
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4 (ESV)
The first baptism was of a resident from our Nest House, a young man from Iran – “J”. You can read his testimony HERE. Please pray for J. Pray for a faith that surpasses circumstances, a love for those who persecute him, and an all-surpassing hope in Christ Jesus.
The second baptism was of a woman from Afghanistan – “C”. She was quite resistant to the gospel when her husband became a Christian over a year ago. Unable to read, C found it difficult to understand the life and teachings of Jesus. Over the last year, however, God has moved in her life, slowly softening her heart to the gospel of salvation. We praise God for this new Christian family (they have two young children)! Please pray for C, her husband, and their children. Pray for their faith and witness as one of a few Afghan Christian families (we’ve seen many single men, but far fewer families, accept Christ).
The third baptism was Will – the son of a fellow missionary here in Greece. Please pray for Will as he begins to understand the cost of following Jesus at school and in the neighborhood.
It is amazing to see people from such different backgrounds and with such unique testimonies baptized together. What a testament to our oneness in Christ. Please lift up these new believers in prayer and praise God for His work in this place!
