As we shared last week, our family is in transition (click here to get caught up on our transition plans). While I’ll continue to serve in the ministry here until June, I’ve stepped down from the day-to-day leadership of the team so that (1) my family can prepare for our next season of ministry and (2) the team can begin to step into its next season. Transitions are always difficult on a team. Would you please pray for our ministry team during this season of change? Also, please pray for our good friends Kent & Myrna Morley. As of last week, Kent has stepped into the leadership role here. I so look forward to seeing what God does on the team next, and I deeply believe in Kent. Would you pray for him and Myrna as they begin a new phase of ministry here? Thanks so much for your prayers! Below is the communique from International Teams.
Subject: Leadership change at the Athens Refugee Team
International Teams USA and the Athens Refugee Team (Helping Hands) are pleased to announce that Kent Morley will be serving as the new team leader effective March 1, 2012. The previous team leader, Brett Sanner, and his family will be relocating back to the US this spring after nearly five years in Athens.
Prior to coming to Athens, Kent was a successful small business owner and an elder in a local church. Originally from Oregon, Kent and his wife Myrna have served full-time in Athens with International Teams since July 2008. Kent has served on the Helping Hands leadership team for nearly three years, providing pastoral care for the ministry team during that time.
“God is at work in amazing ways in the lives of refugees here in Athens,” Kent says. “He is prying people out of the grip of darkness and transferring them into His Kingdom. I am honored to serve with such an outstanding team of dedicated and gifted individuals who are passionate about joining God in that work.”
